Chrystal Paige Brown lives in Chicago, Illinois, with her beloved bichpoo dog, Harvey. While Harvey may appear to be “just a dog” to some, to Chrystal he is family—her constant companion, creative inspiration, and the heart behind The Harvey Series.
Her deep bond with Harvey sparked the idea for a children’s book that celebrates imagination, kindness, and the simple joys found in everyday adventures.
A Life in Storytelling
Chrystal grew up in the spotlight of the theater, discovering her love for performance at the young age of eight. From that early beginning, storytelling became a central part of her life. She pursued a Bachelor’s Degree in Science with an emphasis in Theater Performance from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE).
Her education and passion for the arts laid the foundation for a creative career rooted in expression, emotion, and connection.
Inspiring Young Imaginations
After graduating, Chrystal moved to Chicago, where she began performing in musicals for children. Through live theater, she discovered the joy of engaging young audiences—sparking imagination, laughter, and curiosity through storytelling.
Today, Chrystal continues to work closely with children as a career nanny. Her daily experiences with young minds help shape the tone and heart of her writing, ensuring her stories are both engaging and meaningful for children and their families.

By day, Chrystal is dedicated to caring for children and nurturing creativity. By night, she brings stories to life as an author. Writing allows her to combine her love for storytelling, performance, and childhood imagination into meaningful stories that resonate beyond the page.
The Harvey Series is her way of sharing joy, warmth, and positive values through the lens of a lovable dog and his adventures.
Life Beyond the Page
In her spare time, Chrystal enjoys playing the flute and piccolo, continuing her lifelong relationship with music and the arts. Above all, she treasures time spent with Harvey—exploring new places, creating memories, and finding inspiration in everyday moments.
